Where to download Lineage 2
There are two main ways to get the client, and they differ:
- Official game. Lineage 2 is distributed free of charge (free-to-play) by the publisher NCSoft. The client is downloaded from the official game website and run through the launcher.
- Private servers. Each such server provides its own client (or a link to a suitable build) in the "Download" section of its website. Use exactly that one — the build must match the server version.
Important: we do not post links to torrents and third-party builds — they often contain malicious files and do not match the server version. A reliable source is always the official website (for the official game) or the server's own website (for a private one).
System requirements
Lineage 2 is a 2003 game, it is not demanding on hardware. Approximate requirements to run:
- OS: Windows 7/8/10/11 (64-bit)
- CPU: from 2 GHz (an old dual-core is enough)
- RAM: 2–4 GB (for modern builds 4 GB+ is better)
- GPU: with DirectX 9.0c and 3D acceleration support
- Disk space: 10–20 GB (depends on build and patches)
- Internet: a stable connection
For private servers the requirements are almost always the same — large builds do not require modern hardware.
Installation and launch
Step-by-step installation of the Lineage 2 client:
- Download the archive from the official website or the server's website.
- Extract to a separate folder (e.g.,
D:\Games\Lineage2), without Cyrillic characters in the path. - Install (if there is an installer) or simply run the launcher from the folder.
- Update the client — the launcher will download the required patches itself.
- Create an account on the server's website (for a private server) and log in through the launcher.
- Launch the game from the launcher.

Is Lineage 2 a paid game?
No. The official Lineage 2 is distributed free of charge (free-to-play). In-game purchases may be paid.
Which client is needed for a private server?
The one the server itself provides in the Download section of its website. Its build must match the server version.
Why doesn't the client launch?

The game is designed for Windows. On other OS it can run through compatibility/emulation, but there is no official support.
